Frequently Asked Questions
Why are US Men's and US Women's shoe sizes different?
US Men's and Women's shoe sizes use different scales for the same physical foot length. Women's sizes run approximately 1.5 sizes larger than men's for the same foot. So a US Women's size 8 corresponds roughly to a US Men's size 6.5.
How accurate are shoe size conversions?
Shoe size conversions are approximate. There is no universal standard — manufacturers use their own lasts (foot forms) and the fit varies by brand, style, and country. Always try shoes on or consult a brand's specific size chart when purchasing. This converter uses standard formulas as a starting point.
What is an EU shoe size based on?
EU (European) shoe sizes are based on the Paris point system, where each size equals 2/3 of a centimetre of foot length. EU 42 corresponds to a foot length of approximately 28 cm (42 ÷ 1.5 = 28). EU sizes are used across most of continental Europe.
How do I measure my foot for shoe size?
Stand on a piece of paper and trace around your foot. Measure the longest distance from heel to the longest toe in centimetres. Add 1–1.5 cm for comfort, then use that measurement to look up your size. Measure both feet and use the larger measurement.
Are UK and US shoe sizes the same?
No. UK sizes are approximately 0.5 less than US Men's sizes for the same foot. A US Men's size 10 is roughly a UK size 9.5. For women, UK sizes are about 2 less than US Women's sizes.
